Year 6 children and their parents take part in presentation to Welsh Assembly ministers - Fri 18 Mar 2016

Our Year 6 children and parents were invited to take part in the Cardiff Citizen Project with A.C.E and Citizens Cymru, along with other schools in the area.
A group of children and their parents took part in a session discussing their aspirations for the future. What they want to be when they grow up and how we can help them achieve this. We looked at the types of skills they'll need and what resources they'll need to have access to, such as colleges and opportunities. We had a fantastic turn out for this session.
They put all this on to paper plates to form part of a big display.
This display of paper plates and what they represent (the aspirations of the children, their future) formed part of a presentation put forward to Carwyn Jones, Wales' First Minister, and 3 other candidates for the First Minister position in the upcoming election.
The presentation was part of a big Accountability Summit where the prospective ministers were made aware of 6 big issues that the people of Wales would like addressed by the next First Minister.
It was an honour not only that the future of our children formed part of this political meeting, but that our children got to have their say.
7 of our children, and their families, were part of a representation from our area led by Dave Horton from A.C.E. They stood on a stage in front of over 800 people, from all across Wales, including the ministers. Ceri-Ann, our Family Link Worker, and 4 of our pupils addressed the congregation to let them know what they need the next government to do to help them be successful. The ministers were then asked to pledge their help, which they did.
We are incredibly proud of our pupils and their families for taking part in this once in a lifetime experience. They were all fantastic ambassadors for both our school and our area. They performed amazingly on stage and behaved fantasticly throughout the many hours of rehearsals and meetings.
We'd like to say a big big THANK YOU to everyone that took part, for all of the time and effort you put in.
